For 1967 it is not too dated. The intensity of the story is enhanced by the brilliant acting of Rod Steiger and Sydney Poitier, but the other actors too demonstrate why it won five Oscars. Watching it again after all these years modern film directors could learn a lot from the direction of this film. The close ups, the action scenes, the length of shots and the images that remain in your mind long after watching the film, For me Tibbs slapping Endecott in immediate retaliation was a very intense moment. or "You might just not want an opportunity like that pass you by Virgil" and the creepy killer opening the jukebox with a knife and playing "Foul Owl on the Prowl" I have the feeling that you could still find a lot of communities like this today in the Deep South

Loved this movie it’s really timeless and makes you realise the prejudice within the Police in the USA during this period. Pottier and Steiger were brilliant and I liked the fact Steiger came to his senses towards the end of the movie. 👍
