This little mechless head works quite nicely as an upgrade for a basic system. Mine went into a Discovery mk2 (2003) and replaced the old VDO unit. It drives the LR speakers well and sits nicely in the dash, its green hue blending stylishly with the Disco's dash lights. You'll need an adapter kit to connect it to the Disco's wiring loom - lots on eBay - including the steering wheel control interface if you have those. The Sony has a 3.5mm jack for those control functions. The sound is clear, especially from the USB connection (to an iPhone), and goes quite loud enough, thank you. The knobs and buttons are fiddly, it makes silly beeping noises when you turn the engine off, I haven't yet found a way to turn it off (volume to zero is the only route so far) and even though it has an "always live" connection, there doesn't seem to be any way to turn it on when the ignition is off. So, overall, not bad, good enough for the money but if I was designing it, it would be better.Read full review
