I really liked my Surface Pro but the battery life was a real bummer, 3 and a half hours on average. I had been keeping an eye on the Surface 2 and I made my decision to buy after installing Windows 8.1 on my Desktop. Obvious comparisons with the iPad have been made and this device is not for you if you are all about consumption of media and really basic tasks. If, however, you want something that embraces a wider range of possibilities, this is well worth considering. I love this device, its look and feel, how well Windows 8.1 RT runs on it and how responsive it is. You can double the storage for around £35 (SDXC card) and 8.1 integrates memory cards so you can even use expanded memory as default storage. Some major UI tweaks have made the whole experience slicker and the inclusion of Office 2013 with Outlook mean the addition of the touch or type cover and you have a real laptop replacement in tablet form. The Desktop remains but unless you're using the covers, you won't need the Desktop much. The App store is improving but the quality of the core apps is tremendous and in line with the best of Android and Apple. There's much less "padding" than in the Apple store because Windows 8.1 integrates so much into its core functionality. Games have got a lot better and app like Rayman, that require very responsive touch screens, work beautifully. Even XBox music has been improved and let's you manage your music far better than before. Battery life is 8-10 hours in use which is perfectly acceptable. The 1080HD screen is lovely and while not at the much-lauded retina resolutions, on a screen this size full HD video looks incredible. My only gripe is that I really think the touch cover should be bundled with the device but the Surface 2 is cheaper than comparable iPads (in terms of ACTUAL memory available) and, well, you can actually do work with the Surface 2. It's really time to stop believing all the anti-Microsoft propaganda; it's been going on too long and this device is proof that MS are more than capable of making great hardware and software. I would absolutely not swap this device for the highest spec iPad available. The Surface 2 is not inhibited by being unable to run x86 and x64 software - it's fine as it is and it's a very versatile machine.Read full review

As I bought this second had the battery life is not too good but all in all a good tablet some may think a bit clunky compared to a Samsung Tab 2.
