This particular make and model of TV I had been looking for over a period of time. I already had a Plasma for my lounge and wanted one for my bedroom. This model 3 - 4 years ago had been one of the best plasma's around so it was a case of waiting patiently until the right deal came along on Ebay. If you can buy one of these for a good price they are an excellent TV to purchase.
ok heres the story For years now I have had the old JVC 32” CRT set (see the other reviews) until whilst moving house the missus declared that it was too big dumb and heavy. Plus if we get a new stand I could put the HI-FI out of the stand and under the set. So we got an LG LCD set and it was dreadful.. and I mean that with a big D They say that all High Definition televisions do High Def well.. but the test is the low definition images from such as normal Sky, Freeview, the hundreds of DVDs that I have.. So when I fired up the LG all I got was MPEG blocks and banding between the different colours and shades of colour.. My test disk was terminator 2. and the scene is the one where the kid is messing with his bike as his step mom gives him grief before going inside.. about scene 5ish As you look at the walls all you could see is a big bank of one colour then a jagged line and then another back of colour and so on. The LG went the next day and I started to research it’s replacement. If you look in curries there is a set made by Pioneer that is the PDP 4270 XD.. This is the budget version of the 407.. it does not have the PC input or 2 HDMI inputs..(though it does have a stand) it also does not have a lot of the extra picture tuning adjustments that perfectionists and such crave. It is however a lot cheaper. Like around 800-1200 pounds cheaper however the screen is the same.. just lacking in facilities Anyway to the 427 I am currently running it off an ASDA own brand DVD player. (cheep and cheerful) and there is virtually no sign of the badness that is seen on the budget systems similarly there is not much of it on sky.. all be it when you get to the cheep channels (overload and such around the 200 mark or FTV a notoriously compressed video feed) it is noticeable but this is to be expected as there is no way a signal that looks rough on a 28 “ screen will look better on a 42”. However it is not the fault of the TV. That does it’s best and does improve the odds. The freeview capability is great, the picture is nice and even for this transmission type. Incorporated is a slot for a cam if ever Topup Tv or anyone else becomes a sensible viable option. Physically it is pioneers 7th generation of panel which means it has the really thin front layer of glass.. you may think..why? ..well if you look a plasma from a strange angle you see the reflection of the image behind the image.. On the Pioneer you don’t due to the slim glass. You need to order a wall mount or a table mount but this is not to much of a hassle. In summery I love it. It is a great bright picture that you can alter anything you want on, it does not suffer from all the problems of trying to recover a low def picture. And it looks great. So long as you don’t use it for games and things where burn in could be an issue (like all plasma and CRT units) then it is a great set.. the only down side is that the 8th generation is out soon but I don’t think that they can much improve on this version.Read full review
Forget the hype about full HD - how good do you need the picture to be? This Tv is the best picture I've seen anywhere - a bit pricey may be - but well worth it. Everyone raves about the "blacks" which is very good but so is the colour and contrast - all very natural and no "fuzziness" on fast moving action (unlike my previous high-end LCD!!) Even the sound produced is great without the need for extras. Buy one - you won't regret it.
Excellent Product - Top brand - Found on ebay - Worth every penny - Best TV on the market....... Just can't find this quality build any more......
