The Sony Xperia Z2 is a beast of a phone by any standards - the full 4k screen is a match for almost anything on the marketplace even by 2017 standards It's slim, nominally waterproof, an has a high build quality. Some may be a little frustrated by the custom "bloatware" bundled software, but most of this can be disabled. Second hand models can be had for a little under £100, although these may benefit frrom having the battery replaced (given this is a "sealed enclosure" it requires a new battery, sealing kit, some special tools and a degree of technical competence) Originally costing over £400, at "end of life" these could be had for around £250 the typical cost of a factory refurb is around £150. Were there to be a downside, it only has one SIM slot. I lost my original Z2, but was happy to replace it with a previously owned one. Even with a three year old battery it easily lasts a day without recharging, I plan to fit a new one, I have in the past replaced a cracked screen, and that only cost around £30 doing it myself. I keep mine in a Love-mei cast alloy case, (roughly speaking about £18) and this provides a hugely rugged "gets you noticed" phone. the screen works well enough for texting, phoning and reading emails but comes into it's own when watching movies. The version of android allows you to attach a USB stick via an "OTG" adapter and/or connect a wireless keyboard and mouse to use as a "proper" portable computer. if you want functionallity at a reasonable cost, and aren't obsessed with having the very latest model, this should be fairly high up your list - it won't suit everyone, but I'd sooner have one of these than a no-name knock-off from a dubious independent far-eastern supplier with every chance it's stacked to the gunnels with spyware!Read full review

My xperia z1 recently died, well the battery did and would die around 40% of battery life. The z2 has the same dimensions, width and thickness however is slightly taller. No real issue. The screen is larger however. Great hectic feedback. Upgradeable to 6.0 Marshmallow. 3gb of ram, so the speed of the phone is snappy, no lag experienced. Since Sony were releasing the z series every 6 months these phones are pretty cheap nowadays. Got this for just over £100...would have been closer to £600 brand new. Not the most compact of phones, it's a rectangle so better get used to the shape. The cover flaps to access the USB charging port is annoying, and will break after some time. Consider buying a magnetic charger, cheap things these days. Phone also heats up when doing heavy tasks such as 4k video or heavy gaming. Finger print magnet, consider buying a matte screen protector. With that said, this phone along with the entire Z series have been great. My Z1 kept me going for 3 years and I'm expecting a further 2 or so from the z2. Great phone especially at the price!!!!Read full review

Got this phone to replace a z1 compact which had stopped working, it has a very good camera, screen and sounds good too. Being water and dust resistant means it is made to a certain standard. It does get hot after prolonged use and after updating to andriod 6.01. It isnt compact however at 5.2 inches but feels good in the hand, i like the dedicated camera button too. A good purchase all in all.

Unit can get fairly warm when using GPS, maps, Bluetooth and data. Eg as a satnav. On whole the unit does what it says on the packaging. I have had Sony ericssons through to the current z2 and all been good. Waterproof and easy to navigete. The this specific model z2 version d6503 can be updated to marshmellow android software.

I had one of theses phones when they were new in 2014 and although I have always had Sony phones before and after, this is by far the best. After the last phone, I decided to get another one of these. The phone is just as good as I remember. Its good value for money. The battery last a long time, probably as it doesn't need to update every 5 minutes as the newer phones. I would definitely recommend.
