"Madelaine, Madelaine, from the banks of the Seinne.." Life as it once blissfully was, reflected in this case of the arrival of a young, pretty French Mistress at a public boys' school where she quickly becomes a distraction to fellow staff and pupils alike, all trying to win her attention and affection. You have to look at this charming film as it was at the time and period as it was filmed. A comedy farce in line with many similar films of its type. Quite a classic in it's day, was often screened on the telly before the PC brigade took over. Well worth a watch with some excellent performances throughout.

This 1960 Boulting Brothers' film is a comedy museum piece. Sexist and sniggering rather than funny it is the feeble story of a pretty young French woman getting a teaching job at a British boys' school with predictable nudge-mudge-wink-wink reactions from the staff as well as the boys - who include the 18-year-old Michael Crawford. One soon tires of the sight of goggle-eyed lads lusting after the poor girl. The mademoiselle who sets pulses racing is Agnes Laurent, for whom one can only feel pity. One bright spot is the performance of Cecil Parker as the huffing and puffing headmaster.
