Possibly one of the more obscure GBA titles, Metroid: Zero Mission is the spiritual successor to the highly successful Metroid Fusion and essentially retells the story of Samus' first adventure on the Pirate homeworld of Zebes. If you're looking for a platformer to kill time on a long journey or just enjoy high quality platformers then Metroid: Zero Mission is one of the strongest titles out there. The storyline is kept to a minimum and with many of the hints being subtle and letting you feel like you are in control of your adventure. Also the freedom to backtrack makes gameplay all the more liberating and whilst backtracking is often slated, the incentive of multiple upgrades and the chance to try out some of Samus' more interesting suit changes such as the Screw-attack and morphball make backtracking an interesting diversion from the short storyline. Perhaps Zero Mission's only shortcoming is the paltry length. Easily completed in under five hours, Zero Mission will leave you wanting more, especially as the difficulty rarely challenges you. Fortunately, the game comes with a bonus zersion of the original Metroid unlockable by completing the main story, which is considerably harder and should satisfy anyone looking for a challenge. Graphically, Zero Mission is very similar in aesthetics to Fusion and is a slick well rendered game with plenty of environments to traverse, each one possessing their own unique charm. The sound quality is also phenomenal for a GBA game and successfully draws you into the atmosphere of the game. For a better demonstration just Youtube the theme music for Kraid and enjoy! Overall, Metroid: Zero Mission is a fantastic game for anyone who enjoys a few short but sweet hours playing a platformers which whilst not overly challenging can still surprise the players as times! Anyone who is a fan of the Metroid series for whatever reason should consider Zero Mission an essential addition to their collection and won't be sorry once they have felt the satisfaction of taking out legions of Space Pirates with the power of the Varia suit!Read full review

Awesome re-make of the original. Developers take note! Also, the original is unlocked if you complete the game.

I needed it to fill my collection. It is still fully working and it is a very enjoyable game. What I disliked was that it was a bit short but none the less it was good fun.
