Bought to temporarily replace a modded MF Trivista (a dac + mods that is around £1800's worth) which needs repair. I've not even sent off Trivista for repair yet as this Dac3 is a lovely listen. Great separation, and soundstage well defined within speakers. Very natural sounding cymbals, vocals are stunning. I'm hearing more character and the room acoustic around the voice on some songs. Delightful with fuzzy guitars. Somehow there seems to be more 'tune' going on-delicate variations in playing are easy to hear giving a zest that makes you feel very close to the performance. Bass goes very deep and sounds rounded, warm and natural but lacks a little 'kick'. Such a good listen overall. If you have a dac up to around £500 I think this will surprise you, and certainly the NOS/filterless approach gives a different and (to me) appealing sound. (From memory and as a comparison I'd say the Trivista has more 'slam' on rock music, a better defined top end and gives a wider soundstage outside of speakers and a better placement of instruments across the image). The unit is small and feels solid and very well made. A simple interface with tiny jewel like led indicators add to the aesthetic of the dac. Clearly the maker (Christophe) is man who appreciates attention to detail in both design and technical implementation.Read full review

This DAC recreates sound from digits without destroying subtlety and nuance. It gets out of the way and allows you to enjoy a naturalistic flowing performance of music. Sublime. The DAC3 almost has no sound of its own. It reflects the sound of the recording being played. Vocalists, orchestral soloists, electric guitars all give up the secrets of their techniques. Timing and dynamics are clear. You even get a sense of the nature of the space a recording was made in size, reverberation movement of musicians. There is much to enjoy with DAC3 and a good recording. It gives you a similar experience to high end vinyl replay in some respects. I think there is great value in the direction that this design has taken and there is more to be developed yet. Buy one and be amazed at what you have been missing. I love it!Read full review

This DAC have a pretty good "old school" sound. It's easy to use with Windows, Linux or Mac OS. You should definitely choose it for You're audio system.

I have it now for a couple of weeks and NOW this Dac sings. It definitely needs a minimum of 100hours to burn in. The sound is really non fatigue, Chanel balance is extremely good, huge soundstage and really pleasant to listen all kinds of music. Definitely recommend from me! P.s. I won’t tell how many dacs I have already tested....even one for 10k€. This dac sings! Respect Mr. Christophe Mariac

Very good NOS dac. High tones are very pleasant and the sound better than in any other reasonable priced dac I have had. Of course I have no clue about high end gadgets. Works very well with early music in my system (Genelec based 2.1 monitors).
