Had a Humax Freeview Hard Disc Recorder which kept failing to record programmes - my signal strength was 100% which it turns out is too strong - Humax advised optimum range of 70 - 90% - this little device reduced the signal strength without loss of picture quality and now programmes record perfectly !!

Freeview Set up.. Roof aerial with masthead amp as poor freeview signal.. Signal going to PVR ( two tuners) and then looped through to digital TV with its own tuner. Masthead amp adjusted to give good signal to PVR, but signal then boosted by PVR to the TV. As a result the signal to was TV too high and resulted in periodic channel drop out due to signal being too high.. Attenuator needed to lower the signal between the PVR and the TV. The level of attenuation needed was not known beforehand so decided to buy an adjustable attenuator. Decided to buy a LABGEAR variable attenuator as it was by a well established quality brand and it would give the flexibility to find the right level of attenuation needed for the set up. Also should the aerial need to be changed in the future, the attenuation could be adjusted to suit. The Labgear was fitted at aerial output of the PVR before the aerial input to the TV. A bit of trial and error in adjustment was needed while reading the signal stregnth on theTV for a number of channels to resolve the problem Did what is said on the tin :).Read full review

I had to retune every time I switched on my LG television. I had an over strong signal, LG said I needed to buy an attenuator to set signal strength to 80% - 90%. This Labgear 19114S has cured my problems. so easy to set signal strength. A very well built metal unit, perfect, Thank you

I had never heard of these before we moved over to BT tv and found that as we lived so close to the tv transmitter, that our signal was infact too strong for the box to decifer the signal, leading to a broken up image and sound. The item arrived quickly and plugged in line in the cable, although I did need an additional female to female connector for my own set up that fortunately I already had. The item fixed the signal problem in seconds by rotating the adjustment switch. All sorted without having to call anyone out to take a look. Thanks!

It definitely works but it didn't solve the issues I had, that's not the fault of this unit.
