The authors, Bostock and Chandler, were doing maths text books for schools, way back in the early 1970s, so their experience trumps that of most modern day authors. The quality of the material is first-class, and the book covers more than the present-day, A'-Level modular syllabus demands. It covers everything needed for C1-C4, and some of the topics in FP1. It's ideal for the new, linear, maths syllabus. You get excellent exercises, nicely graded; starting off with easy questions to break you in gently and ending up with a few aimed A* students. Why 5 stars? This book is actually better than later versions, owing to coverage of vectors in planes. This topic is not tested these days at A'-Level (you need to do the FP3 module) but is often needed at uni. by those doing engineering course. It's very well covered, and a real bonus to anyone wanting to get to grips with this topic. Finally, worth mentioning, is that this is the one many maths teachers recommend; and just look at the price! At under £5, it's a no-brainer!!Read full review

Good coverage of A level work with extra depth. Later edition maps to the various exam boards.

I understand it’s used. But when I received the book it had jottings and answers written in pencil next to questions. I had to go through the book and rub them out.

Great book - really well laid out, with clear worked examples. I am using it as back up to an OU course in maths, and it is an excellent reference for any techniques at this level you are unclear on.
Bought for my son for his uni course I guess it does the job. It was cheaper than buying a new one and give the same info. Thats the beauty of EBay for such things
