This is my favourite prenatal exercise video. There are 5 different 10-minute workouts and the instructor is friendly and positive (and hugely pregnant, doing all these fabulous moves!). I usually do 4 of the 5 each day. You can pick and choose the order in which they are played, which also helps make doing the routines all the time less boring. I was relatively fit when I got pregnant and wanted something challenging and this is great -- I'm not a sweaty mess afterward, but it isn't boring or too easy and it gets my blood pumping. I would recommend getting a set of 0.5-1.5kg hand weights because two of the routines use them, although you could just move your arms without them. You should also use some pillows for the core section once you're past the first trimester. (She also uses a pillow for 2 small parts of the legwork, but you could get away without one, I suppose.) The 5 workouts are: - Pilates for Buns and Thighs (the legwork at the beginning is tough--in a good way) - Standing pilates (has some hand weight work and a lot of moves that are great for the lower back) - Core pilates (the most thorough (and very safe) ab work I've seen in a prenatal exercise video) - Pilates for Flexibility (great stretching at a good pace without being slow) - Total Body Pilates (my favourite -- has a ton of arm/hand weight work, but really involves the whole body and gets your blood pumping) (The other prenatal workout I like is the Kathy Smith Pregnancy Workout, which has some 80's aerobics, leg, arm, and ab work, stretching, and relaxation (I skip that part, though). I bought this DVD as a gift for my friend who was pleasantly surprised and has found it very useful due to the fact she works full time and she can mix and match the workouts to her moods, which obviously are of a variety due to hormones all up in the air, a good DVD all in all
This DVD has been a great way for me to get a full body workout without exhausting myself. You can choose to do either 1-5 seperate 10 minute workouts. The mixing and matching helps to take away from the monotony some DVD workouts provide. I have recommended this to my pregnant friends and will continue to do so! I'm not totally convinced by the DVD yet. The instructor is quite quick with changes and it can be hard to keep up! There's a lot of stomach exercises that I didnt think i'd be allowed to do. I do like the thigh and buns exercises though!
