I had my first motorcycle 39 years ago. I have been a rider who has seen them-self as competent for most of my years of riding in lots of different situations, in different countries and on different styles of bikes. I recently did a the biker down course with the London Fire Brigade, the London Ambulance service and Transport for London. That gave me access to a free course with a Metropolitan Police motorcycle rider for the day. That prompted me to look for this book. I am only a little way into it but am learning loads. I would highly recommend any motorcyclist to buy this and read it. I do not only feel safer, but I feel more competent on my bike through the information in this book. Buy this folks, it will change your approach to riding.

Well written handbook for use as a training aid or text book. I bought it to upgrade my knowledge prior to taking my big bike test as it was recommended by an ex-police bike officer I work with. The main message is rider safety, improving general awareness and developing greater competence. A very good book, easy to read and compiled in a no nonsense practical format.

I'll keep this short by saying that the non-complicated format makes for relaxed reading. The content is a mine of advice and information, pictorially assisted. The physical size is bedside drawer/armchair side friendly. It was instrumental in assisting my passing of the I.A.M. Advanced Rider test. I came back to 2 wheels after 15 years. Bought this book and a mid-range adventure bike to enjoy some O.A.P. years, (adventure before dementia)

Book arrived in good time and the company contacted me after buying to say it’s on it way and if I have any questions get back to them and enjoy the book, which I thought was nice. Book arrived and I can’t believe how much information is included in this book. I have just started to read it and I am very impressed in how it is laid out and the description to each chapters is making it a great read. I normally fall asleep when reading my kids bedtime stories but for some reason I want to keep reading and learning as much as possible. This is where you can criticise your own riding and get better page by page.

Even though this is a big book - it's easy to find what you're looking for. As an ageing returning rider this was ideal for me & the great yawning gaps in my memory!! The whole book is in manageable sections - subdivided - short sharp bits of writing & easy to follow diagrams. There ARE NO full pages of solid words that make you want to give up & go to sleep - you don't end up reading the same sentence over & over. Lots of scenarios to work through - lots of "plain English" descriptions of why things happen & how things work. It feels really interactive going through the sections. I didn't feel like I was back at school & being forced to study.
