All of my other speakers are by Monitor Audio so it made sense for me to get one of these subs. I was *almost* happy with it until I played the surround mix of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. It just cannot cope at all with the sound effects at the start of Welcome to the Machine. It coped with just about everything else I tried but the Floyd issue was a show stopper for me so I replaced it with a BK XL200 which copes with the Floyd just fine. My other issue is the very bright LED on the front, it's blinding! If you're looking for a starter sub then give this a go if you get one at a good price, but the BK is far far better and was only £350 brand new in sexy piano black.
I bought this sub-woofer to match the other Monitor Audio speakers that I have for my 5.1 system ie--Radius 45 rears, Radius 225 centre plus Studio SE 20's front right/left.That connected to Yamaha RX V673 receiver means that I now have the dream sound I had always wanted. This sub is amazing--fast detailed and dynamic bass--perfect for most average living rooms. Frequency adjustable and has its own volume control and auto power off--useful when listening to TV in straight mode, ie using front speakers only. Build quality is superb--it weighs a ton! If you can pick one of these up nearly new on e-bay you will not be disappointed--it has stacks of power enough to rattle your chest and make the neighbours think there's been an explosion next door!
it gives out a really good responsive bass sound with frequency range variable setting & volume controls
