The story of the Casper who finds fulfilment and happiness in his relationship with the kestrel that he trains, is juxtaposed with the harsh working class environment that he grows up in. He sees beauty in the wild creature and wishes that he could also fly free. It is an uplifting but ultimately a sad indictment on a society that fails to use education to fulfil the potential of the young people . A great read and also a marvellous film well worth reading and watching too.
