After a week of usage I'm very impressed with the Garmin 1490TV. The unit build quality is very good and it's obvious that high quality materials were used for the construction. Navigation and route calculation is also what I expected and the map detail are displayed very smoothly during driving. The unit locates satellites much quicker than my old Nuvi 200W used to and the big display is also much appreciated. The main reason I bought the 1490TV was for the reverse camera feature and I'm very satisfied with that. The TV function doesn't work in my area, but I knew that it won't since it was intended for europe anyway and not remote parts of South Africa. Pros: Big Display Reverse camera feature Responsive menu's and smooth displaying of map EcoRoute HD support BlueTooth 3m accuracy Other features Cons: TV not compatible with some other countries. (Not that I mind anyway) Garmin might want to improve the startup times of their GPSr units.Read full review
tv is is very good. tv does not work so well on trains. it captures lots of chanels. clear picture. traffic does not work. they all say it works but you have to pay big time to know which area to avoid. i found everything very good. rear passengers in car love love it. my son does not like to use the pedestrian mode. he is 14 and does not know why. overall excelent.
I have one already so bought one for my son for Christmas. Truly excellent sat nav. Light easy to carry and almost as slim as my mobile. The pedestrian mode is great in unfamiliar places and allows me to find where I have left my car! The superb TV function is a massive bonus... Particularly when having to wait for long periods in the car with the grandchildren. 100 per cent recommendation from me.
only tried it a few times but up till now it has been great.Easy to set up easy to use GREAT ITEM.I would buy garmin again given the choice and have had no problems at all with it.I did buy a dash board vent kit for it from another company and it was a waste of time and have gone back to suction window mount........................................................................
As a taxi operator I spend many hours sitting in the car. This product is adeal to aliveate the boredom. Good reception. Plenty of variation. My only problem is wear and tear with connect/disconnect on a daily basis for security - R the connections going to last. I would recommend this product as essential in my line of business
