Musically v good, v imaginative but would have liked more vocal clarity - the vocals are good sonically but hard to make out.

Just an absolutely amazing album. I heard them on Zane Lowe off of Radio 1 a couple of years back and stopped what i was doing to listen to the track. I had the same reaction when i first heard sigur ros - so i knew that had to be a good thing! A few months later "Wake Up" it was all over the BBC on their trailers for Autumn 2005 (you're bound to know it, an epic, choral chorus that's sends shivers down your spine. Arcade Fire are undoubtedly original and this was for me the best album of 2005 - no question! I still listen to it a lot, wishing that the follow up (Neon Bible) was as good! It's personal, it's haunting, it's huge, it's strange and so many other things all rolled into one. If you LOVE music, then you have to have this in your CD collection.
I first heard exerpts of the CD on iTunes and make the decision to purchase it off there as I quite liked it. Then I struck a thought. £7.90 on iTunes in digital format OR £LESS on eBay on CD so I can play it on the Hi-fi, in the car ect. The overall purchase was around £5 (inc. P&P), and I was delighted with it. This way of purchasing music is better as I get something to hold in my hand, the album sleeve and any booklet that may come along with it. It is also still available to me when my PC crashes, or more recently the hard-drive collapses at half-capacity, so I still get to listen to the album unlike if I was to purchase it at £7.90 on iTunes, where now, it would have vanished. No doubt this is a very good CD and I would recommend you add it to your CD collection. Each track is a pleasure to listen to and undeniably catchy. A GOOD PURCHASE.Read full review
This record really grows on you. Creeping up on you, surprising you at every turn and then becoming a favourite that you go back to time and time again whatever the mood. Sometimes haunting, always interesting and never generic The Arcade Fire are a Canadian band who seem set on reinventing how the piano can dominate an album alongside deep throbbing bass, differing vocal ranges and catchy tunes. Brilliant.
Not an exaggeration to suggest this is one of the best albums ever made. Absolutely f*cking brilliant. So well put together and different to anything else. New album's cracking too.
