I never saw this film when it was released but am glad I have seen it now. To call it entertaining is wrong to call it informative is probably nearer the mark. Films like these which I call BOATS (Based On A True Story) are in my collection and I am glad I added this one. The casting not only of Charlize Theron but Frances McDormand, Sean Bean, Sissy Spacek and the real bonus was Richard Jenkins. It was a feast of talent and although a grim subject it is well told- well done to all. E Bay delivered once again and thank you MusicMagpie.

All she wanted to do was make a living. Instead she made history. A fictionalised account of the first successful sexual harassment case in the United States. When Josey Aimes (Academy Award winner Charlize Theron) returns to her hometown in Northern Minnesota after a failed marriage, she needs a good job. A single mother with two children to support, she turns to the predominant source of employment in the region - the iron mines. It's an industry long dominated by men, in a place unaccustomed to change. She is prepared for the back-breaking and often dangerous work, but coping with the harassment she and the other female miners encounter from their male co-workers proves far more challenging.
This is not an easy film. Based on a real story, it shows not only the working conditions of women who are forced to make their living among the tough men, but it is, above all, an excellent study of the conflict, and an excellent performance of all the actors.
