This radio ticks all the boxes with me. It is very easy to use & the Solar charge works like a treat charging up the batteries. I think that this radio is far better than my Pure radio whose battery gave up the ghost & was too expensive to replace. Also the sound quality is no different than the Pure.

Really pleased with this. Delighted that it's rechargeable (it does have mains too). It's light, it's portable, the sound's great and it's easy to use. Can't fault it.

This little radio is quite an achievement with low power DAB with the usual classy Roberts tone that is easy on the ear at the same time being punchy enough to overcome shower without sounding harsh. Located on my southwest facing bathroom windowsill, it has worked perfectly throughout the winter without needing mains charging. (Estimated daily use of 15 minutes/day). We live in a marginal DAB reception area and this unit is much less prone to signal drop out than the other slightly older DAB radios we own. It has a compact solid feel. If, after a few years, the battery pack gets tired it is easily replaced.
THE TRUTH ABOUT ROBERTS SOLARDAB 2 RADIO I build roofs for a living and work in areas where you are not allowed 240 volt electric. So when I read a review in the Mail saying that when this radio is left in the sun it can basically run on sola power and never need charging up.I thought that would be perfect. Roberts quality has never been top notch but for a radio that will never need new batteries I thought i'd give it a go. The price seemed fair if it did what it said. THE TRUTH Basically I recieved the radio and the quality didnt seem THAT bad.I put it on charge for nearly 24 hours first so to give it a fighting chance.First day not bad at all but if it was turned up past 3/4 it became distaughted. The tiny speakers are quite tinnie with not much bass.Dont get me wrong I was not looking for a boom box but a little more bass and not so tinnie would have been nice.By the end of the second day it just stopped and needed a full charge ! If I had been inside maybe that would be understandable but I wasnt.I had been working on a roof on some of the hottest days of the year.I can honestly say that there wasnt a cloud in the sky for the whole week.Just brilliant sunshine.Since then I have to remember to charge it up everyother day.If you forget then its going to be a quiet day.So if the sola panels were charging it then I didnt notice ! GOOD POINTS The DAB channels.6MUSIC on DAB is great and worth spending the money just for that.Having built in rechargeable batteries is still cool and it will pay for itself sooner or later. Also a big + is being able to plug in your Ipod making the radio a speaker.Nice touch. ALL IN ALL its a 6 out of 10......I really can't give it anymore than that.I just REALLY wish the sola panels worked like they promised. Then it would have been an 8.Read full review
Easy to use with good quality sound, self charging solar batteries.
