Have had a Peavy Predator guitar in the past, sort of knew what to expect, Peavy has been making guitars for awhile, and has an extensive and good history just like Fender guitars. In this case, this is a Fender Stratocaster clone with almost same specs and size, and it does hit all of the bells and whistles of a classic Fender Strat. The five position pickup selector switch is what gives you the classic Strat tones which is what i was after, the one in this guitar exceeds expectations and is very sturdy quality, along with the fat pole piece Strat pickups, and the fat humbucker in the bridge. However i did perform some popular custom shop modifications, such as brass roller swivel saddles for the tremolo rocker bridge, which by the way, even has the heavy duty rocker springs, which are necessary, and also installed Schaller type locking tuners, which by the way, fit, without any bore drilling, and also i recommend, and swapped out the Asian plugin jack with an American made Rapco Switchcraft, which definitely fits USA cables snuggly. All is well it is a keeper. Unbelievable Peavy!!!Read full review

This model is one of the better import guitars. It has a 25" scale length but feels more compact. A great budget guitar that feels / sounds good, perfect starter guitar. If you want a super strat, look for a 1st gen Predator Plus. It has a better tremolo and locking tuners and a solid wood body. These guitars are getting harder to find in good shape. One good identifying mark of these 1st gen guitars is the truss rod adjustment is at the heel and can be adjusted without disassembly.

The Peavey Raptor Plus guitars, especially the EXP editions, are very undervalued and underappreciated. Quality components, great necks, wonderful playability. That they can be purchased all day long for less than $200.00...sometimes under a $100.00...is like giving a prospective buyer a license to steal! The neck and body are worth that -- not to mention some pretty fair sounding pickups. All in all, the best low-priced guitars on the market!
The Peavey Raptor Custom guitar has the most comfortable neck that I have ever played. I own two of the Peavey Raptor Custom models. One with the maple fretboard and one with the rosewood fretboard. Both are great players. I own over 20 electric guitars and this is the best of the "Strat-like" affordable electric guitars in my opinion. The pickups have a great range of tones, both clean and with distortion. The steel bar in the headstock improves the sustain. If you play rock and blues, you will love this guitar.
