I've found DK books are written for 12 year olds, GCSE History gives a higher standard of history than this. I flicked through the pictures and was done with it, and will probably donate it to a charity shop, the place where DK books go to die. I watched a good documentary on WW2 called battles for Europe which is on Yesterday and it made me want to know more in depth about WW2 and DK books don't provide that detail, they are produced for the mass market. Also the time lines on the key events are terrible. They are ,firstly, in tiny print and only give a bare bones description. Also the writing is lack lustre and dreary, no attempt to capture the scale or drama of the war. 2 stars for good pictures.
