When Les Misérables premiered in 1985, there were doubts if it would even transfer to the West End, after its run at The Barbican. 25 years later, the show has been running constantly in the West End, becoming the longest running musical in the history of theatre. Now, revamped and reorchestrated, this live recording was made over the course of eight performances and features some stellar names including the magnificent John Owen Jones as Valjean and Earl Carpenter as his nemesis Javert. While a live recording with audience noise can be a negative aspect for some people, their enthusiasm shows the deep love and appreciation that people have for this show. I’d give this recording a solid 9/10. It’s a must-buy for fans of the show.

I haven’t bought a CD in years but I found it hard to find les mis album without adverts. I didn’t want the latest version with Matt Lucas so this was a great option. Thank you.
