I bought this book having already read the young person's edition. And that in itself is a recommendation - the story has all the components of a love story, a thriller and elements of a training manual too. The story of Dion and Gobi is all the more remarkable because we don't tend to think of 'rough, tough extreme sportsmen' as being emotionally available to very small, very sweet dogs whilst in the middle of sporting events and yet that's how it was .. and Dion's wife, Lucja, was more than supportive. There are no 'bad guys' in this story .. it's told at a racy pace yet is very detailed and it's beautifully told .. it's a book which has gone back to my bookshelf because it's one I shall read again .. and there are only a very few that will fall into that category. Buy it for any dog lover, any animal lover, an sports enthusiast .. or buy it for yourself as I did.Read full review

I received the book yesterday afternoon, and could not put it down! Finished it this morning, and I was gripped (even though I knew there was a happy outcome!) Would Gobi be snatched by the 'men in grey'? Would it all work out ok? Nail biting stuff! So happy that Gobi is finally in her foerver home in Scotand!! Phew!! A real page turner!! I love that little dog!

I could not put this book down, Dion is truly an amazing human being in more ways than one, any lesser man would have given up in despair. I wish him every happiness with his extended family.
